Product Description A historic live performance by one of the greatest rock bands ever, Santana. Includes an early incarnation of Santana classics such as Evil Ways, Soul Sacrifice and many other show stopping tunes. Performances at the historic Fillmore made Santana a legendary live act and brought them to the attention of Columbia Records, who made the group one of the highest selling artists in rock. The legendary live recording herein is of true historic interest, affording the listener the opportunity to hear one of rock's greatest bands, Santana, in one of it's earliest incarnations. With an assault of sounds and genre-bending, Santana merged blues and Latin styles into a percussive, colorful and unique collage that continues to thrill audiences worldwide. Selling over 50 million records collectively and a massive international fan base, Santana has exhibited resilience nearly unparalleled in rock history for which they were rightly rewarded a place in the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame in 1998. While the exact date of these recordings is unknown, this live performance predates the group's self-titled debut album on Columbia in 1969. Carlos and the boys are indeed in fine form, and performances such as these no doubt convinced Columbia to sign the group. This set is highlighted by an outstanding rendition of Evil Ways, a song that went on to be a standard in the annals of rock history, while other songs from this collection such as Soul Sacrifice and Jingo were part of Santana's first demos recordings at the famous Pacific Recording Studios in San Mateo, CA.
