I have not been able to use this item to gauge it's quality, durability or any other function yet. Item came rolled up in a box! It took me kneeling on end and have it snap back on me a couple of times before I was able to completely unroll it and place heavy books on it to hold it down. Notice I did NOT say hold it "flat" because after several days of books holding it down (this is what their directions say to do) I am still unable to use it because it wavy and continues to roll on ends. This same item could have been purchased at Staples and is packaged in a FLAT box. What would make anyone think that you could roll (oh and I would have paid see that) hard plastic, stick it in a box, ship it and have it be able to lay FLAT to function as it should....as a a MAT? DESIGN FLAW.This thing never completely went flat. I tried leaving it in the sun for a few days, rolling it backwards and leaving it rolled up that way for a few hours, a hair dryer... nothing would make it lie completely flat. It curls up juuuust enough at the edges that every piece of pet hair, dust, etc goes underneath it and crunches when I roll over it. Speaking of which, about half the time my wheels on my chair get hung up on it and I have to get up out of the chair, roll it around to the flattER (Not flat - flatTER) side of the mat, and get back onto it that way.QUALITY. This mat is the perfect size for my 6 ft desk and at a great price. I read the reviews before buying, so I was prepared for the issues with flattening. After unrolling and putting weight on the corners, I placed a space heater in the room for a couple of hours. It has remained flat without any problems since. My chair rolls easily on it and it's big enough that I don't ever run off the edges. I don't have any problem with slippage, but I also have a lot of weight on the front corners with it tucked under the feet of my desk. This mat really works as it should on top of a hardwood floor but a buyer should know these things: (1) It was very stiff coming out of the box and impossible to unroll. I actually put the mat outside in the sun to see if it would warm up and be easier to handle. Nope. (2) I placed it on the floor and put my desk chair on it. It is usable but after months of use, it still has waves in it. I don't think it will every be completely flat. That said, it is still usable and protects my floor. This mat would be hard to roll my chair across if I had it on carpet instead of hardwood.

This mat is just what I was looking for to go under my desk chair. My computer is in the kitchen in a narrow walk path, so I didn't want something thick that would be a tripping hazard and I wanted something clear so the floor would show through. The mat is very thin, but still seems sturdy and my chair rolls just fine. You must be careful to put the slick side up and the slightly rough side down. Traction on the floor is OK but it does slide around some and ends that hit the desk curl a bit, so I rotate it to keep the rolls from becoming permanent. Again, I figure this would be the case with any thin mat. Reading other reviews/questions I see 3 major concerns and I’ll offer my two cents on those topics.Unrolling - Yes, this mat comes tightly rolled, that is how they ship it to you for a low cost (free for prime). Other places (Uline) offer flat-shipping mats, but with shipping that comes to over $100 for one mat. I purchased this for $51 and I see it is now $43. For that price I have no complaint with the fact that it took 3 days to totally flatten out. It was winter and my apartment was about 65 degrees and in 3 days the mat was totally flat and I have had no issue.Slipping - I have mine on a slick hardwood floor. The things that I've read are true. It took a bit for it to flatten out however it is very flat now and performing well. I have learned to avoid these things because they always crack in time. Instead, I use a cheap (hardwood like) floating floor over carpet, to roll around on. Recently I replaced the floating floor and noticed that the new floating floor is wearing out very quickly. So, I purchased this to extend the life. It is working fine. The only con is that it slides around on the floating floor and I can never keep it squared with the room. A couple of times I stepped on it and it slid out from under me.

This arrived in great condition, VERY Easy to get out of the box and within 24 hours was laying flat. NOTE that the rough part is suppose to go on the ground. It did take me some time to research this and find this out. The smooth part should face up. This keeps it from sliding all around and protects your floors better. It really looks nice, I love that I can see through it and as a larger guy normally these don't hold up under my weight but so far it's really doing well. It's also a great size, I wouldn't suggest going smaller unless you just know you don't have the room. You also just can't beat the price for the quality and size.
